Milicz Fishpond Nature Reserve, Lower Silesia, SW Poland - large area of old fishponds which altogether form a unique habitat for wetland birds. They date from XIII century and their total area is 77 km2. It is the biggest nature reserve in Poland with exceptionally rich birdfauna which in turn gives amazing photo opportunities. Access is restricted - you need a special permit from local nature conservation authorities to get there.
Roosting cranes will be our main goal. They spend nights in shallow water of fishponds and they leave the place for the rest of the day to feed. So we will be spending mornings and afternoons in prepared tent-hides but usually morning sessions are best as the birds tend to come very late in the afternoon to the ponds. In between we will have a break to rest, eat, charge the batteries and download the images. There will be also opportunities to photograph other birds and mammals which often turn up at the hides: White Egret, Grey Heron, Greylag Geese, Snipe, White-tailed Eagles, Whooper Swan, Goosander, Teal, Gulls, Red Deer, Wild Boar etc.
The whole group will be divided into 3-person groups and each group will use different hides at the same time.
Each workshop lasts 3 days but there are 3 workshops one by one so 2 or even 3 dates can be booked together.
